Dagwood disguised, seeking an acting job for free food and sleep. The acting and sleeping he learned from Gary Cooper. The food he learned from chefs acting as actors. Of course he likes the eating, not the chefing.
Fried cakes are really good. I miss Grandma’s. Her 18 layers cakes , she cooked on stove top in thin corn bread frying pan. One at a time. None no better. My wife can cook that way but she prefers cooking three layers at a time in oven. Speed demon. I say nuthing. Brutus should say nuthing too. Frying pans are heavy tools of trade.
The strips of the last two days have me wondering if Mother Gargle’s wedding present to Gladys was a collection of her favorite recipes — with some very specific alterations and omissions. I’m guessing she wasn’t fond of Brutus from Day One.

Gladys will never get a Michelin star.

Never mind the toxic amount of artificial food coloring needed to get the cake to be that color.

Oops. I’m not a good cook. Cakes are supposed to be baked? All this time I used a “frying pan” to make my pancakes!

Wow. That might be interesting. Red Velvet pancakes at Gladys’ house. I’ll be right over.

But the fried ice cream on the side may be in question. But you just know you’ll have to try it. You know, to expand your horizons.

In Boy Scouts we made “Dump Cake” in an iron skillet over the campfire.

Not a fan of red velvet cake. I’ve tried it a few times at catered events (my wife detests the cake) and found it gritty.

Maybe Gladys has been to state fairs where just about anything ends up being fried.

I guess that diner is a 4-star restaurant to Brutus.

Gladys probably saw funnel cake being prepared at a county fair and just assumed all cake was supposed to be fried.

After choking down the lousy lasagna Gladys made yesterday I’d say Brutus is entitled to something yummy. He earned a little happiness
