Don’t you have to get that one right and then another one? I recall that’s the way we did it back in school but it’s been a very long time!

then Kat gets a crown, and a year’s supply of correctly-spelled words.

I remember back in the ‘70s I either read a Peanuts cartoon or saw a Peanuts film where Chuck had a chance to win a big spelling bee but he blew it when he could not spell beagle which you would think he would have known as that was Snoopy’s breed. I think Chuck spelled it baegle….. I predict (p-r-e-d-i-c-t) that Kat does not choke in the clutch like poor old Charlie Brown!

Surely that’s a rookie mistake. Hasn’t he studied his Latin-derived prefixes?

Doesn’t matter how he came to mispell the word, he did, he’s O-U-T out & if Kat can spell her word correctly, she’ll be able to strike “Win a Spelling Bee.” off her bucket list.

Uh… No? I feel like there was a missed opportunity to comedically foreshadow that Kat is either going to lose or have a really tough time with the last word because the previous word was “prediction”.
