Had a guy call in YELLING so loud about how long his item was back ordered the CEOs assistant came to the CSR and ask to take the call. He demanded we cancel the order, refund him and he’d take his money directly to the manufacturer. He called back later to buy the item again because they’re a month longer. We took his order and he now was at the bottom of the list – taking even longer. I think this is going to get worse before we see it get better.
Shelves are empty – and have been straight through the pandemic – in stores around here, not as bad as March 2020, but still open spaces.
I buy frozen vegetables to use. We have been having for a couple of months a problem finding, in particular, frozen carrots. The Walmart Neighborhood Market (supermarket, pharmacy, related only) has big empty sections in its freezer section among other various shelf sections. They carry, normally, two brands of frozen carrots – theirs and a Spanish brand (forget the name – big name brand). We had not been able to find any in over 2 months. We actually went to two other supermarkets – different chains which each share a building with a (different) regular Walmart – nor frozen carrots there either.
I grumbled about it enough that husband did research – yes there is a shortage of carrots, particularly frozen due to higher demand and bad crops.
Last week we were in the NM for our 3-4 week food run and while looking at the empty spaces in the freezer cases where vegetables belong I saw a woman taking packages with orange vegetables shown on them and started to get excited. Their box was the only one in the doored case section – rest was empty. I mentioned it to husband as he is slightly taller than my 5’1" and could actually reach the shelf. I figured I would be disappointed as there are other orange vegetables (like the sweet potatoes husband bought a month or so ago) but yes, they were carrots! They are in the more expensive smaller “steam in microwave” bags that cost more, but they are CARROTS!
(Please, no suggestions on using fresh, etc carrots I have my reasons for wanting to buy them frozen.)

Just be happy that Toilet Paper is in huge supply! That, and huge supplies of Paper Towels, too!!

Could be worse. We could have had supply chain issues with garbage collection.

I think people overfed their pets anyway. Chicken on sale is also cheaper than cat food.

I wouldn’t worry, most house pets are overweight.

On the farm, Mom fed our feral barn cats oatmeal with bacon grease during the winter. They ate it all.
