According to a friend in the shoe biz, overseas costs are about the same for all sneakers. Varies only by price of material, which does change the cost much.
There is no such thing as a pair of sneakers worth more than $20. There are, however, quite a few people who believe that their self worth is somehow dependent on the amount of money they wasted on their shoes.
Actually in 1970 I bought my first car, a ’60 Impala, from a classmate for $200. I ran it for two years, only had to replace the muffler and still got $25 for it when the transmission dropped out of it on my way to work. Still the best value for any purchase I ever made.
Oh come on. I require high-end New Balance for my long distance running and (so far) still get them for under $170. I doubt even Coach John is going to be making Nate run the distances that I do.
Nate just be thankful he’s not shopping for you. You would be going to school in tap shoes. 7/10. I’m glad the vase arc is FINALLY DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
…and most of them are made in low-wage countries and the companies gobble up big profits, rather than making them here so workers can have good jobs. Disgraceful.

In one of the books Markus makes fun of Nate for his shoes costing only 20$ and claims that his cost 200$.

Does Grandpa not know about inflation! That $200 is probably worth thousands nowadays.
6/10 Grandpa’s appearance surprised me.

I’m pretty sure Marcus said that exact thing in Big Nate: In the Zone. Is that a coincidence or is he stealing ideas from him?
