Also if you’re a husband and for some reason you are right, apologize immediately.

The day after our wedding when we had the reception at my new in-laws’ house. Husband and FIL are in the kitchen doing dishes. FIL tells my husband: This is my best advice. It’s always the husband’s fault. Husband: What’s my fault. FIL: What is not important. It’s always your fault. From my perspective, it’s been difficult. How can you have a good fight, if one of you always says, “you’re right, it’s all my fault”?

Appropriate responses include: “Yes, dear.” “Of course, dear.” and “What ever you want, dear.”

Cause a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do, and I’m going to do what you tell me to, dear, because I’m top dog around here, but I’ve been neutered – from the man song

My first wife’s notion of compromise: do it her way.

He will never give up the remote… but you can still change the channel with the app on your phone. (Just sneak it in when he’s ‘resting his eyes’. )

We always do what he wants to do. Then later he says to me “You were right – again. We shouldn’t have done that.” So even if I am right 50% of the time, it does not matter we always do what he wants. It is his parents we lived near – not mine – nor I did want to live near either set of parents.

that’s the best way to get a divorce. Because at some point, the husband is going to say he’s right and stand his ground. If the wife is so conditioned to always being right, she’ll be angry and feel betrayed. And neither will be wrong.
