Not sure whether âhot or notâ is slightly more or less informative than âitâs 80 degrees,â as temperature values were assigned based on expansion of a liquid in a narrow tube. Celsius assigned zero to the freezing point of water, and 100 for its boiling point (At sea level, do you live there?). I donât know how Fahrenheit came up with 32 and 212 (again sea level), but its wider range is âmoreâ useful for discussing comfort levels. And then thereâs âfeels likeâ which is just a way of saying âitâs not as comfortable as you expect.â

Need an updated version of the saying, âitâs not the heat, itâs the humidity.â

Another advantage of a modern AC: works as a dehumidifier. In cases where you can cool down during night you can thus prevent mold effectively.

My definitions are âcoldâ if below 53, âhotâ if above 83. 53-83F is perfect. Thatâs roughly 12-28C outside the US.

83 is good for a high temperature this time of year, but not for a low.
