Iā€™d rather hear music from a squeeze box that bagpipes.

    Q: Why do bagpipers march?

I can appreciate the accordion because my Grandpa played one. Growing up he and his friends would get together and play! Bagpipes I can only take about 5 minutes and then it gets annoying and on my last nerve! LOL

I always wanted to learn the bagpipes as a child. My parents wouldnā€™t let me as they didnā€™t want the noise to disturb the neighbours who only lived half a mile away.

There was a young Scottish boy called Angus who decided to try life in Australia. He found an apartment in a small block and settled in.

After a week or two, his mother called from Aberdeen to see how her son was doing in his new life.

ā€œIā€™m fine, ā€œ Angus said. ā€œBut there are some really strange people living in these apartments. One woman cried all day long, another lies on her floor moaning, and there is a guy next door to me who bangs his head on the wall all the time.ā€

ā€œWell, me laddie,ā€ says his mother, ā€œI suggest you donā€™t associate with people like that.ā€

ā€œOh,ā€ says Angus, ā€œI donā€™t, Mum, I donā€™t. No, I just stay inside my apartment all day and night, playing me bagpipes.ā€

In the movie ā€œBraveheartā€, after King Edward I (played by Patrick McGoohan) conquered Scotland, he made the playing of bagpipes illegal because they were used to gather the clans for war

If you wanna hear good bagpipes, listen to AC/DCā€™s ā€œItā€™s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock ā€™n Roll)ā€:

The first time I saw a bagpipe, I thought it was an octopus wearing an LL Bean wool shirt.

In the right hands, and playing appropriate music, both instruments sound great. For accordions try Mexican or Zydeco. Bagpipes are great as part of a pipe and drum ensemble. Thereā€™s a particular group in Scotland that is fantastic and I would have included a link, but much to my dismay I canā€™t find it!

Lol. Both of those instruments can be neat, but are rarely played well. (And often played poorly/used for jokes.)
