The tummy ache is totally worth it, though!

As appropriate as it might seem at this moment, Todd should never change to a health food dragon.

I don’t want to know how sick one must feel from eating too much candy and the glucose suger rise and plunge.

All those artificial ingredients, flavors and colors.

But ouch to the many cavities that are probably starting.

You’ll look just like a pumpkin face mouth with missing teeth in no time or your mouth will look and smell like a zombie’s mouth very soon.

So those pumpkin candy baskets are in fact a warning about what your own mouth will look like.

I think luckily for Phoebe, Marigold has a spell to make Phoebe’s teeth clean and white.

Just curious, has anyone here experienced a tummy ache from eating too much Halloween candy?

Back in the middle of the last century, sugar was the natural diet of my childhood. I would usually polish off a good portion of my haul in good order with no problem, not to mention all the other penny candy jags during the year.

Even as a kid I wondered if 1. It was an old wives tale just meant to teach kids moderation, or 2. Did earlier candies have more volatile ingredients, like castor oil or carbolic acid, that wasn’t good to take in too large a quantity, or 3. Were folks handing out more fresh type things, like apples or cookies, that could have been spoiled or poorly prepared, so that “tummy ache” was really food poisoning?

Just curious. I’ve yet to find a victim of a memorable, “Halloween tummy ache.” Sugar crash maybe, but not gastric symptoms.

Oh, and for the curious, even with the penny candy and Hostess Twinkie diet (you may gather I had limited adult supervision) and I indulge more than other folks my age, I still a normal BMI and no diabetes, yet.

It’s probably less that her stomach is full, as it is that her body just doesn’t want any more sugar. She could probably use something salty. I wonder if Todd can breathe Doritos?

My Halloween hoards would last a while. I never ate it all at once, maybe a piece or two that night, but the rest I’d eat over time.

No Marigold, it’s the perfect time. Phoebe needs to refill her empty bowl with new candies!
