I’ve missed reading Buckles every day since the strip was discontinued. Just thought I would Google it to see if there was an archives, and was delighted to see the strip running again on GoComics. How long has it been running again? Also saw a Facebook page and found out that the first two books were available again — so I ordered them.
We learned long ago that if you leave footwear where the dog can find it, this is what happens. Finnegan has never bothered with mine, but will grab my son’s whenever he gets the chance. Finn especially likes Evan’s slippers, which are in the back hall when not being worn. As soon as that kitchen door is opened, the dog will steal one of the slippers and carry it around until one of us notices. It’s his favorite game — he likes the chase, but will always trade the slipper for a dog treat or a piece of cheese.
Why leave shoes out within a dog’s reach if you know the dog will chew them up? That is not the dog’s fault. I had a dog who liked to get socks. I kept all socks carefully out of reach at all times. We had only one sock incident in 14 years, and that was the first one when she was a puppy. When teething, all my puppies were given one gym shoe. It was theirs. I didn’t take theirs, and they learned to not take mine (and if they didn’t learn, they couldn’t find mine as they were inside a closet or room with the door closed.

I guess in this case, being specific can sometimes change one’s opinion on something.

You have to be smarter than the dog. Put them up somewhere that he can’t get to them…..problem solved.

Good points here from all…if you don’t want it damaged, don’t leave it in harms way.
