I remember ice skating as kid. One evening, I believe it was, there was a middle aged woman that was trying to learn to skate. She kept alling down. Finally she had had enough and just laid there on the ice. I skated over with some of my friends and told her she couldn’t just lay there; some one would run into her and she definitely was going to get wet and cold. We offered to help her up and pull her over the warming house where she could be safe and take her skates off. She took us up on the offer. I imagine she took her skates down to the local Ace Hardware stor and traded them in for something else.
We were lower middle class as I was growing up, but Mom and Dad made sure we 3 girls had ice skates. My friends and I were fortunate—we had a creek, 2 ponds, and the Sandusky River to skate on—all within walking distance! God, what fun. No fancy moves but lots of creativity, LOL. Sometimes one person would skate and do some “interpretive skating” while the rest of us sang a song. Two songs I remember singing are Smoke On the Water by Deep Purple and Paper Roses by Marie Osmond! LOL x 1000! Oh, and Crack the Whip skating was incredible!

Shouldn’t the coach be out there with Zoe. Helping keep her balance ?

maybe next year she’ll ask Santa for a pony, like a normal 10 year-old

She’d be better at Roller Derby.

Perhaps ice skating isn’t for Zoe. Roller/inline skating might be.

That’s probably not uncommon for the first lesson. I really don’t know, but I would think so.

Sports mothers and Stage mothers. Two of life’s greatest mysteries and two of life’s greatest annoyances.

Zoe seems so scared. Probably too much scared for a second lesson.
