Why aren’t people ever the right amount of whelmed?

You could have offered to help, make a game of it.

and if north to south don’t work, Earl, how else would Nelson clean his room?

I’d just shove it all under the bed

Maybe Nelson could embark on a southerly journey to the north as he goes on an eastward trek to the west!

I just don’t get it what’s the big deal about a kid not wanting to clean their room??? Kids seem to have it easy,i either cleaned my room or else plus I helped out with other chores,washing dishes,help with the laundry,we didn’t have a clothes dryer either

Earl needs more specific directions first

Nelson has likely seen Earl’s basement workshop, that I strongly suspect emulates an “Extinction Event.” Not a good example of neat housekeeping.

Earl should have stopped after/with “Try east to west.” If Zack was really feeling a little overwhelmed, giving another choice may have just made it worse again.

First he’ll have to find the compass.

What does Earl know about cleaning a room?

I never gave my kids such vague instructions as “clean your room”. I would make it specific: make your bed, pick up your Legos, put your dirty clothes in the hamper, etc.

First, dishes go to the kitchen. Make your bed to make sure there are no surprises in there. Then, laundry goes to the washer. Pick up books, homework, and toys. Put the trash in the trash can. Then you can vacuum the floor. And last… show your grandpa how to do it.

In my experience when you go to clean an area it gets worse before it gets better. In order to make room for things where they belong you have to find a place for whatever’s there already which makes a bigger mess until you have more things where they belong than you have things to put away.

You can be ruth, or ruthless.
