Coming Soon 👀 At the beginning of April, you’ll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
I nominate FIFA President Gianni Infantino – not just for his SJOY-worthy performance throughout the World Cup in Qatar, but for his continuing imbecility, boorish behavior, ludicrous pontifications, toadying, and venality.
I nominate all hypocritical professional team owners who complain about players wanting more money, especially those demanding cities build them new stadiums or they’ll move to a new town.
American sports fans can’t overlook the always politically correct, always honest, and ever-polite NFL Washington Commanders owner Dan ( “I’ll never change the Redskins name” ) Snyder for the SJOY title.
Well, yes, but the field is a pretty large one, there’s no reason to be naming the same mega-jerk over and over again. Give the other swine a chance!
I nominate Phil Castellini, president of the Cincinnati Reds. At the beginning of the 2022 season, after the team — owned by his father — had sold off or traded popular and productive players (or let them go outright as free agents), getting very little in return, fans roundly called for the team to be sold. Castellini retorted, “Where are you gonna go? [We could just] pick it up and move it somewhere else. So be careful what you ask for.”
Yeah, Phil, that’s right. Insult the fans on Opening Day. [ rolling my eyes loudly ]

Athletes and coaches mainly behaved themselves in 2022, maybe the sword of a future SJOTY kept them in line.

I nominate Gisele Bundchen. She marries a football hero, and then makes him choose between his family and his game.
