I had many discussions with my mother-in-law over the way she treated her daughters. I told her that she could deal with my wife, the b!tch (to her mother, not me -my wife can play āhardballā when she has to), or the crazy one that lived overseas and that the youngest daughter, as much as she fought with her was āthe nice one.ā
I managed some level of respect from my M-i-L. I have a lot in common with her late husband. My father-in-law and I got along just fine. The day after my wife and I were married, we went to their house for dinner. As soon as I showed up, he said, āNo refundsā and handed me a beer.
Well, heās tried everything else and nothing works. All thatās left is to grab the car keys and head for his favorite watering hole, unless heās restricted to the house.
Impractical solution. He should just get out until MIL has come and gone. Of course, then he has to hope his wife didnāt decide to lock him out of the house for the night.
