I jokingly say to my grocery store coworkers who stock the shelves, âwhereâs the thing?â They get puzzled as whatâs the thing to which Iâm referring. âAny thingâ or âwith either the Addams family or the Fantastic Four,â I reply.
My girlfriend and I blended households in our 50s. For years everything was where I left it, the same with her. Now neither of us can find anything in the kitchen.
Husband will come to me and tell me he is missing some tool â whether woodworking, leatherworking, weaving, stitching, etc. (We have our main studio off our kitchen, the garage is his woodshop, basement has additional woodshop plus finished side has his cutting table for matboard and fabrics, two metal storage closets and and display stands). My first question will be âWhat did you use it for last?â That will generally give me a good idea where to look and where not to look for it.
This works well for missing reenactment event items also.

I have heard people describe things with noises. For instance, something looks like an âeerrttâ. Pretty weird

In our house itâs a combination of this special lingo and sign language â not ASL, but general handwaving.

My wife has given up on proper nouns. I find it to be an introvert trait and a passive aggressive defense tool. Of course, Iâm an extravert.
