Why are you carrying a pen that’s out of ink Earl ?

Earl is now copying Opal’s habit of long winded, pointless stories

Don’t take his word for it. Verify that it’s out of ink.

When someone needs my signature and their cheap stick-ballpoint fails, I simply drop it in their wastebasket and ask for another. I’ve never had anyone complain about my behavior, though a lot of them look kind of surprised. What, they think it’s going to magically work for the next person who tries to use it??

I wish Crane had run out of ink.

Only a Plugger would have kept a pen so long that it would be out of ink… oops, wrong cartoon!

Opal do you ever wonder why you keep him around? Man can’t even produce a pen when you need one.

What else will Earl find in those deep pockets? An M&M from his youth?

I got some 3 inch pocket pens on line , inexpensive, don’t poke holes in my pocket like regular size pens, and have covers so not ink stain, also have key chains

I’m taking jackets to Goodwill and checking pockets. Scads of handkerchiefs.

When I want a pen at home, I go get it.

Reminds me of the joke about Mick & Paddy walking down the lane when it started to rail. Mick said to Paddy," Put up your umbrella Paddy." To which Paddy replied," There’s no point Mick cause it is pull of holes". Mick replied,“Why did you bring it then?” Paddy then said,“I didn’t think it would rain today Mick”.
