I pledge allegiance to whoever donates the most, never mind saving American lives so long as the money keeps rolling in.

Okay corporate America, you give us our lawmakers, plus all the taxes you owe (for real, not just the ones you don’t really pay), and we’ll give you the thriving, stable economy that you supposedly want.

I’d donate MY taxes to that program!

But shouldn’t have to if “our” “representatives” would just do the job they swore to do.

I can just see the start of an awakening to the reality of what the NRA and the other gun lobbies have wrought. We are seeing record levels of violence. Crucially, it is cropping up in small towns and rural areas, not only in the large cities on the coasts. Humans are vengeful, vicious creatures by nature. When the people who bought and paid for the lie understand what it has cost them, they will not be kind and forgiving. They will be vindictive and cruel.

Unfortunately, after the debacle that was the Supreme Court’s 2010 decision in Citizens United v. FEC, buying legislators is pretty much the norm these days. It’s an unfortunate side effect of this cartoon that it makes it seem that the only way to talk sense into them is to outbid their owners. Worse, by giving more money to their owners.

In some circles it is said that a good politician is a bought politician who stays bought.

Problem with this is that the people who own the lawmakers also have ALL the money

How about a Gun Drive? Tell the gun-dopes, that Ukraine needs handguns and rifles, to beat those nasty old russkis.

In WW2 we had metal drives and paper drives.

Wave a flag, tell ‘em it’s the American thing to do.

Some people believe that armed citizens make our military quake in their boots. I have a hard time believing that. Variation on an old joke “Our guns protect us from dragons.” “I don’t see any dragons.” “Thank you.”

Lots of profit providing weapons of mass murder so Americans can kill each other in mass.

Biden restores vital protections for Alaska’s Tongass National Forest gutted by Trump

Indigenous and green groups on Wednesday applauded the Biden administration for reinstating protections for millions of acres of wilderness in Alaska’s Tongass National Forest that were lifted during a Trump-era regulatory rollback spree. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced Wednesday that it has finalized protections for the Tongass National Forest by restoring “longstanding roadless protections to 9.37 million acres of roadless areas that support the ecological, economic, and cultural values of Southeastern Alaska.”

They are bought and paid for. The government doesn’t have that kind of money to buy them back.

Marjorie Taylor Greene’s amendment to bar Biden from selling oil goes down in massive bipartisan defeat

For the last year, President Joe Biden has released a record amount of oil from America’s petroleum reserves in order to increase oil supply and lower the price of gasoline that skyrocketed at the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Some Republican lawmakers, however, have criticized Biden for selling so much oil, even though his administration has begun buying it back in recent months to restock the reserves.

No appetite for gun control despite latest mass shootings, key Republican says

Texas GOP Sen. John Cornyn says he doesn’t expect to see any new gun legislation despite the recent spate of mass shootings in California. “I think we did everything we could do with the votes available last summer, so I don’t see that happening anytime soon,” Cornyn told NBC News.

Buying something from someone else that has nothing to do with them…

That sounds like wise spending to me.
