Having spanned the years from the manual typewriter to the electric typewriter to the personal computer and all the iterations of same, I have to say that I’m not sure which is more intimidating to a writer; a blank piece of paper on the platen or a blank screen staring back at you. 8>)
There is a visceral finality to physically ripping it from the printer, vigorously wadding it up and tossing it across the room, off the wall, and into the basket. Followed by a long walk hoping fresh inspiration will effortlessly fall on you.
A former friend of mine always, always, always printed out anything she wanted to read online. She swore she couldn’t deal with reading on the screen. She had reams of paper everywhere, all articles she would never read. I tried to suggest she just keep trying to read the screen, but she just really didn’t want to. But she did complain about not being able to organize all her files.

Umm, well, that is a computer, not a typewriter. How about just deleting the page instead of printing it and tossing the paper?

They said computers will eliminate paper wasting, BUT turns out everybody wants a hard copy

92.66% of what I print is used only temporarily. I also do not know what to do with all my 1960s University textbooks in the basement.

Ah, but like slamming down a phone in those days, crumpling up a paper after making a mistake or correction is just as satisfying.
