Good on you Fred, in the States the joke is our dogs bark at the postman!

It’s snowing and the postman is wearing shorts!!

Truly hardy if he can wear shorts. I wonder if he is part Scot? You know. Kilts and all even though kilts aren’t worn much any more. They used to be.

Looks like my wonderful postman. He is a lot more tolerant to cold than I am.

Fred, might this be a letter from Mrs. Dear’s sister from Australia? Or one from aunt Flo or uncle Albert?

Looking at the postman, I hear Col. Saito from the river Kwai saying, “Be happy in your work.”

If the hardy postman is a Laurel and Hardy postman, he’ll be delivering to the wrong address and he’ll get into a tit-for-tat fight and destroy Fred’s lovely home as in “Big Business”. I don’t think there’s any danger of that.

:-) I need to bring out a toast for our postman. He’s called Thomas and is extremely fast. Here around they deliver the mail with VW-transporters. Once I watched him speeding to our door, hopping out of the car, heard him putting mail in all of the 7 mailboxes and saw him hopping back in the car. All done before the car even stopped to roll. You can hear it when he’s coming, nobody drives like him. And he is allways friendly!

There’s one in every crowd!

Our mailman in Colorado we’re short so winter long. He explained that he does not wear long pants, because if they get wet in the snow they are wet and clammy all day. Plus, he’s part Viking.

It’s been a long time since I have seen a postman delivering mail to a house. Today they drive to the common mailbox. Some are good enough they don’t even need to take more than two steps outside their truck.

The postman would do well here in SW PA. You’ll see people in coats and shorts all winter long!

I live in Salem, OR and it’s not unusual for high school students to be walking around in the snow in shorts and sandals. As a former neighbor says: “The weak ones die young.”

Shorts?? In the winter??? What is the postman thinking? He’ll catch his death of cold.

Tough lot.

He’s just like you Fred, he knows how to deliver.

Our mail delivery and newspaper carriers are both lackadaisical.

As I approached the end of the comments I suddenly stopped with a memory of days of old, saying, “Wait! Why are we surprised? We girls and women used to wear dresses all winter in all weather.” And many women still do.

So the PC “mail carrier” hasn’t made it to England yet?

I like wearing shorts year round too.
