Hold the chicken, sweet taters, peas, and okra. I’ll have roast beef, mashed taters w/gravy, green beans and the cornbread. Sweet tea to drink, and a slice of apple pie for dessert.
I never had chicken fried steak. How is it made? I just think of it as a heart attack on a plate, but it’s also not very popular here. I would imagine it would be better in a location where it’s a meal regularly on a menu.

That’s a really loaded Southern menu! Chicken-fries in my parts usually come with fries or baked potato. And gravy, of course.

Could I have a baked potato instead? And a biscuit instead of the cornbread? And the black-eyed peas can go in the garbage.

Okra is too hairy tasting for me. Can I get green beans seasoned with fatback?

All sounds good but you can leave the black-eyed peas off my plate. To me they taste like dirt.
gopher gofer over 1 year ago
replace all that with wienerschnitzel, sauerkraut, and a big ol’ kosher dill and you’ve got something edible…
