“Some of These Days,” they’re gonna miss their (red-hot) Mama. Now that I think of it, Aunty Acid does sort of remind me of Sophie Tucker. (Who??)

I had a retired school teacher cousin who’s 2 daughters and grandchildren lived with her – drove her nuts about wanting this and needing that and always needing more. Too keep her sanity she move out of her paid for home into a retirement center apartment canceling electric and water.. Leaving them to fend for self. They were not allowed on retirement center gated property and did not have her telephone number. Two months and electric nor water had been turned back on and all the bums had left – place in a mess of course.. She had her home cleaned up and rented out. She truly enjoyed her last golden years without those beats and bums. She left her material possessions and insurance to her 2 brothers and 1 sister who stuck by her. Johnny Cash – you never miss a “friend” you never had applies to family also.

My wife, with my support, went on strike against our two sons for a week. She did not pick up anything, she did not do their laundry and she did not prepare their meals. In fact, it started when we got home, saw the condition of the house and told the boys, “Bye, your mom and I are going out to eat. You’re on your own.”

Then there was the time, my wife threatened to throw all of the clothes strewn on my youngest son’s floor out the front window. She didn’t do that. She threw them out the back window.

    The kids got the message.

Years ago, ex-husband… I was about 6 or 7 months pregnant and I was dragging the laundry bag to the washer/dryer which was in the garage. My ex worked for a beer distribution company and wore a uniform. He had money taken out of his paycheck to pay for the cleaning of his uniforms. He always forgot and I just washed them. It was no big deal.

We had a little window in the door that led outside and it was open. Ex had a buddy over and they were drinking beer. (My ex was an alcoholic.) As I’m outside bending over to sort the laundry, I heard my husband’s friend say, “Hey, do you think you should help her with the laundry?” My husband, “Nah. Besides, it’s her job.” Mind you, I was still holding down a full-time job. I shot up, opened the door, and said, “My JOB? You pay to have your uniforms done. I’ll be damned if I ever wash them again!” I pulled them out of the laundry and finished the rest up. The next day, I see him rummaging through his dirty uniforms looking for a “clean” one to put on. I never washed another one. There were many times that he forgot to take them in.

What, stop doing things for them or stop yelling? If you stop yelling, that’ll really teach them.
