Oh, my second husband was too stupid to figure that out. He is what would happen if someone tried to make dumb from concentrate but forgot to add water.

Classic put down!

Considering how many times I’ve been dumped I must have an unhealthy need to prove I’m stupid.

As I mentioned in another strip: in a self-congratulatory toast on my 50th wedding anniversary I offered, “I am the smartest man in the world, and the luckiest. Smartest because I asked her to marry me and luckiest because she said yes.”

Indeed, my first husband was my proof too.

And he responds but I got smart and dumped you.

I’ve never had a husband – does that make me smart or just lucky?

Does this mean Aunty and Walt aren’t together anymore or is she talking about a prior ex?

On more than one occasion I’ve told my wife that I know she’s smart, because, after all, she married me. (She’s also smart enough not to take me seriously when I say things like that — our 38th wedding anniversary is a week from today.)
