The google Street View car was just to my right at an intersection in Sugarhouse (a neighborhood in Salt Lake Cit) a few years ago. I smiled and waved. but have yet to see the picture on Street View.
A man passed away and later his family discovered he was on Street View, at his front door. Same thing with a man leaning out of his window, a woman resting in her yard, etc…, not to mention dogs and cats… Bitter sweet ♡
The mapping cars aren’t out much these days, it shows our property with a row of trees by the sidewalk. The prior owners cut them down and the stumps have almost rotted away.
I got caught while sitting in the shade of our tree while reading a book. Heard a car coming, looked up, and there it was coming around the corner. No time to react. Oh, and my lawn needed mowing, too.
Google maps where my driveway became a street with its own name and an additional house on the top of our small mountain up past one of our barns. Not accurate and they have been corrected several times with no avail
At my age, the way I see it, any random person taking my photo would be lucky that I have pants on. One of my fellow retirees is never seen without his house slippers on, even when we shuffle on down to the diner for coffee and swapping lies. Okay really, I just go to flirt with the waitresses. One of them kissed me on the cheek once and I had bragging rights for a week with my fellow old farts.
The Google Street View car came through my cul-de-sac many years ago. I was in the garage with my great-niece. When I saw the photo on Google Maps, we had been edited out.
I can’t remember the story exactly, but I heard about a woman who was selling her deceased mothers house and went to look at the house on google maps to make sure that the view gave people a good idea of how the house looked. The picture was old enough that when she called it up she could see her mother working in the garden.
About 10 years after we bought our house we had work done on the outside and the color of the house changed. It took another 10 years before it changed on Google. (It looked much better before.)

You can contact them and get it removed, retaken or blurred. Some guy in Italy was caught peeing in his yard several years ago!

In some cities, keeping a well-mowed lawn is the law.

Google must have some standards, they’d have to blur Ralph out.

My house is so rural that my street isn’t on any of the map apps. The highway behind my house is the closest thing shown.

Now that’s something to be proud of, and people will be looking at it for years.
