The doghouse is more appropriate as a daytime retreat. It’s too lonely and scary to be alone out there at night. Who knows what might be lurking nearby?
As usual Buckles is just great in all of the panels , but " please tell me that the third panel isn’t just " precious " and of course the last panel with all of our lovable characters : )
My dogs have always slept with me. I told my fiance, “If you want me in your bed, You have to know there will be a dog there, too.” He was fine with it.
When I got a Great Pyrenees puppy to be a guard dog for my chickens, she was actually smaller than the problem bobcat, so I kept her in the house. Guess where she still is 6 years later.
Dogs just want to be with their family, their pack. Most will want to get between two people so they are touching both. I find my ease of movement during the night is best when my dog sleeps under the covers. I can just push her over a bit with a leg or hand. Well, there was that one time when she peed on my feet in her sleep, but that just made me laugh. She was still sleeping in it when I woke up. I just moved my feet over and changed the bedding in the morning.

A house isn’t a home without family or people you love.

It would be very lonely in there at night. Maybe too cold too. Much warmer in Paul and Jill’s bed.

Dogs are pack animals, their people are their pack. My darling dog herds me to bed when SHE thinks it’s time to sleep.

To sleep upon a hard doghouse floor or nice soft mattress…not a hard decision to make.

He’s correct. A very familiar situation.
