I remember stating once that “Rover can outrun Roadrunner”. That was a comment on how he keeps beating Red when they race home from the bus stop. Of course, Rover is much less successful when he chases squirrels. He goes from Roadrunner to Coyote in those chases.
How about the Saturday cliff hangers or the boy from India continuing tales. How many times did we see a cart or stage coach go over a cliff with all the passengers, and having to wait until next Saturday to see if they all escaped, which is what always happened.
Maybe that’s why Rover tried to wake you, so you wouldn’t miss your cartoons …. especially the Roadrunner ….. but you had to go back to sleep, Red ….. :)
We got our first TV in 1956 when I was 5. I remember getting up really early and creeping into the LR (small house, light-sleeping parents) and turning on the TV with the sound all the way down, waiting for it to warm up and then waiting and watching the profile of a Native American on top of the test pattern for the Saturday morning cartoons to start. Mighty Mouse, Heckle and Jeckle….nice days.

Road Runner cartoons are rip-roaring – so is Red and Rover – and “That’s all Folks!”

He would have had to be a Red Runner to beat Rover to the T.V.

What era does the author think he lives in? I just wish I could grab the his/her collar and scream “For goodness’ sake, man, this is 2023!”
And I also wish I could show him/her these:
