Yes, the collar has slipped off a few times from my little fluffy doggie. But he never goes very far. They usually want to stay close to the people that care for them.
Why my Dachshund has an AirTag. Today, off trail, she pulled the leash out of my hand and chased a rabbit into the brush. I was able to track her. Four years ago she did the same, sans AirTag, and it took 45 minutes to find her. To this day, I am not sure of the fate of that rabbit. It would number three if verified. Yeah, I know but it’s instinctive on her part and carelessness on my part. Don’t ask about the voles……
My dog has done that but still won’t get more than 10 feet from me. So I bought him a harness and after driving back from the park, the got out of the car and the harness was still on the seat. He is a regular Hairy Houdini.
I found my dog can slip her collar whenever she wants. One time she did that, walked ahead of me for a couple of blocks and started sniffing the ground. When I caught up, she had found a rabbit nest. My dog is a champion rabbit dog, so I was just glad she didn’t hurt the babies. She has never slipped her leash again. I can leave it very loose. I think she knows she has a good life with me and since beagles are pack animals, she wants to be with her pack. If I let her loose in the hospital, she will go into patient rooms all down a hallway. She doesn’t know, however, which rooms are infectious disease rooms, so I need to be right there with her, not one step too far behind.

Didn’t they already do a story arc where Earl lost Roscoe?
sirbadger over 1 year ago
It would be funny if a child put the leash on so that Earl still felt a weight on the leash while Roscoe ran away. Maybe a YouTube prank.

To Roscoe that kind of sounded like a suggestion or an invitation.

I don’t know why Roscoe would want to get away from being fed regularly and sleeping wherever he wants. Earl and Opal are going to be frantic.

Maybe Roscoe will be back home waiting for Earl, when he gets back …… and Earl will never realize that Roscoe was loose …. :)

Lousy slipknot, Earl. Long time since you were a boy scout? Well, a little harder work and you could have flown with the Eagles.
