Yep, he really is confused. Mind you I was no different, girls ignored me through high school, and ignore me through university. That I was autistic (found out at 48) probably had a lot to do with it.
We didn’t have counselors, we had advisors who helped you decide on what classes to take for your degree of interest. They didn’t care about your personal life
Is the term “co-ed” for women students used at all anymore? I never heard it used when I was in college in the early 1970’s. I think of it as a 1960’s and earlier term. I only remember it being used in reference to colleges that were no longer single-sex, or at least when they “went co-ed”.

IMHO, the main purpose of school counselors is to stifle individuality and creativity and turn students into quiet, obedient robots.
