This arc is not the best arc, the only reason they’re fighting is because Liz is spending more time with Anthony than Dawn. Dawn got tired of that and said, if you don’t want to spend time with me, I’ll find something else to do. Liz does not take other people’s feelings into consideration. She just lives for the moment.
Why is this Dawn practically as tall as the locker door to start off with, but then clearly a couple of feet shorter than the locker door a moment later?
I suppose it’s not easy to forget a friend when they sit right next to you in almost every class you chose to be in because you were friends at the time. Still, with enough anger, it can be done.
Ah yes in the background in wheels Ms Edwards, the voice of reason who will soon throw cold waters onto the fire of raging teenage hormones, giving them a break from the heat of anger, the flames of jealousy. She is the first responder who is left to deal with the carnage that is the life of a growing teen girl.
And it happens again a few years later when Dawn and another friend (Shawna-Marie I think) work together for a summer and become close while Liz is away. Liz is very insecure—but that’s so typical of teenagers!)
Why is Dawn in such a bad mood? She is at school, a place her kind thrives on. She can cheer herself up by singing a song her family passed down to her: “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad”.
This is the main reason a lot of parents (mine, included) don’t want their kids being exclusively with one person, as opposed to casual dating, in high school… the potential for missing out on the “right one,” because of being with someone else too soon, and, missing out on a LOT of the high school excitement, because they are spending all their time with one person.
My final word. Sorry about the confusion. I should have done a bit of research before posting. It is Ms. Edwards, who later became Mrs. Taylor. However, she was the voice of reason in Elizabeth’s life, and (without clearly remembering) I still believe her presence in the hall suggest that she will some how speak the word of wisdom and get Liz and Dawn speaking again. We’ll see tomorrow.
I’m not a fan of the omniscient creator always tsk-tsking the foolish or hypocritical teens. And the superior attitude/cheap shots at how kids say one thing but do the opposite. It gets old.

I was shocked the first time I saw two girls fighting in middle school. Talk about vicious.

Both of them have their eyes closed and their noses in the air. Not watching where they are going; two accidents waiting to happen.
