Local store now has locking carts because of theft. Now all the hand carried baskets are gone. Young people load them up and run off with the goods. “Petty” criminals. My neighborhood is becoming a Looterville.
That’s why I always get a cart whenever I walk into a store. Well, that plus the fact that baskets are awkward to carry & I don’t need a second “sprung” shoulder to go with the one I wrecked throwing sidearm in my teens – I try never to carry anything heavy or awkward with that arm!
Been there, done that — except that once I realize I’m getting a few more items than planned, I’ll head back to the front of the store for a cart. Of course, I don’t have her superpower of being able to balance all those items without dropping even one, as she waits on line. Amazing!

It’s either Target or Costco.

I take two or three personal shopping bags with me, lay them in my shopping cart, and end up only getting maybe three thing.

Well, I haven’t done quite that bad, but I’ve come close a couple of times.
Went and got a shopping cart for one young lady who did just about this. Talk about a grin and a sigh of relief!

The hand basket wouldn’t have really helped her in that scenario anyway.

And don’t think that qualifies you for the speedy checkout line.
