you know what is totally totally bizarre? earlier today i read a shower thought on reddit that talked about how good it is that birds are not venomous and i thought “also it is good that spiders do not fly”
Spiders DO fly … sort of. When hatchling spiders are ready to leave their hatching spot, they spin a long filament into the air, which catches the wind and drifts away, carrying the young (and very lightweight) spiderling with it, thus removing it from the parent spider and its hatch-mates … who are as likely to eat it as not. Once they land, they set up housekeeping (web-keeping?) and never take to the skies again (one hopes).
May I have such a stone please? It seems to have built in a resolution to every problem. Maybe you even stop walking funny after having been on it for a while.
You know that there are jumping spiders. Considering the distance that they jump. You could sort of say that they are flying, if only for a short distance.
I’ve never seen a flying spider but I am aware that there’s a species that uses it’s webs to sail on wind currents. Now there is a barking spider which I’ve heard too often to remember. Their “bite” is worse than their bark. One whiff and you’ll pass out!

Actually, they can. One reason to wear a hat.

Did she give up beating up on the snake? I haven’t seen her to that in ages when once it was almost a weekly thing.

I am so grateful that evolution never granted them the ability to fly. Otherwise i would have to walk around with a flame-thrower.

Always wondered how come Spider-man can fly? From the theme song; “Spider-man, Spider-man. Does whatever a spider CAN.”

“They can fly doc. They can also spin a web, any size, and catch thieves, just like flies”

Some spiders can “fly”. They don’t have wings, but they spin a thread that catches the wind and lifts them up.

I think it’s more accurate to say that that spider was sent flying…!

There are species of spiders that use their web like a parachute to get carried by the wind, so they are technically “flying”.
