I used to think that Nixon, with his vindictive attitude, was our worst president. After GWBush, & trump,……………….Oh, God help us.

I don’t get why Nixon is talking to Rutherford Hayes, or is it James Garfield?

Garry Wills had an important and insightful article in Esquire about the genius of Nixon’s Checkers speech (unfortunately behind a paywall). I believe that it was the basis for his Nixon bio, Nixon Agonistes. (It earned him an entry in the Enemies List.)
