This strip poses the question of whether young drivers are better or worse than elderly drivers. Aunty Acid’s remark “I’ve reached the age…” shows that her driving is getting worse with age. She was good enough to pass her driving test many years ago but her failing eyesight is making her another dangerous driver.
On the other hand, it is irritating to be on the road with drivers who are TOO cautious. I stopped driving certain roads because people drove unnecessarily slow and caused backups of people behind them wanting to pass. I stopped taking one road that conveniently took me straight to work because I encountered so many of those “Mr. 45s”: No matter the posted speed limit, they drove 45 MPH.
I don’t allow screaming in my car when I am driving. I mostly drive alone, so it’s too distracting. Someone was trying to argue loudly with me while I was driving and ignoring it didn’t work. I finally calmly said, “I can either drive or I can listen to your rant, but I can’t do both. Do you want me to pull over?” I am not overly cautious, I don’t drive 5 mph. I just like to be safe and not end up in an accident due to a sudden unexpected shrill noise that is like an ice pick in my brain.
Oh give me a break Aunty, you were 16 many, many, many, many, many, did I mention many years ago. Everyone has been terrified of your driving all along.
When following the one that needs fifteen miles to pass a smart car on the highway, I lose my… self.. over it. Other than that, I drive a truck: more intimidation, less hassle.

It’s like she is wearing a blindfold. (Friends and family should too!)

Aunty is a Brit. Her steering position is a strong clue.

I’ve known people who reached that age when they turned 16.
