I remember reading this, when it first came out, in the Detroit Free Press, and trying to memorize ‘apteryx’.

But do CLAMS have hairy feathers, besides their legs?
So? It has now been proven that many dinosaurs had feathers. But this strip is about 58 years old and the feathered dinosaur theory had yet to be proven at the time. We are having barbecued dinosaur for lunch today. We call it chicken.
B.C. started in 1958. I remember seeing this one when it was new, and laughing loudly. I had to look up ‘apteryx’ in the dictionary.
