When my dad was alive, he had a cup of black coffee in his hand if he was standing still. My poison is either iced tea or diet dr. Pepper so my first pit stop is the fridge. He asked one time how I could drink that so early in the morning. My reply—you have your caffeine addiction, I have mine; the only difference is the temperature.

It’s the first sip of that first morning cup that I look forward to.

I worked with a guy who could drink a pot of coffee in the morning, a pot of coffee during work, and a pot of coffee in the evening!

I, in my youth could drink maybe 4 or five cups per day, now I can only drink one!

If more I get the worst brain fog for several hours!

For years my right eye would experience pain every time I drank a cup of coffee. My wife finally suggested that I take the spoon out of the cup.

I live in the country and I have never seen green cloud tops before. Cartoonist privilege I guess.

I’m starting my first cup now. I only have two, straight black coffee.

Unless you’re pre-diabetic (or diabetic) you’re better off drinking non-diet soft drinks.

Is it me or has Arlo lost his zing?

Indeed there is. For whatever, reason, the second cup just isn’t as good.

I drink an 40 OZ insulated pot of loose leaf tea every day. Medium to full caffeine according to my blends. I can also eat a 100 gram chocolate bar at bedtime washed down with ‘original’ coke and sleep like a baby.

There should be a special word for Arlo philosophy.

The first cup gets me going. The second cup is the one I really enjoy.

On top of our refrigerator, we still have the cup my FIL would drink coffee from when visiting, which was almost daily. He said coffee tasted better from a fancy cup, so we got him a hand painted antique bone china cup and saucer. He used it for years. I do miss him.

I remember when my father would get up at 5:00 a.m. and sit in the living room watching Pike’s Peak while the sun rose. Coffee was a big part of that daily ritual.

Agreed! The same thing as after a long hot day, there is nothing better than those first few sips of a cold beer! It’s all down hill from there.

I like my coffee dark and bitter… like my first military supervisor.

I make a 30oz Yeti full. Still only 1 first cup. Make it a big one.

Well, duh!!!

The second cup is never as good as the first (even though I make it the exact same way).
