I bought a 4 inch plant augur. It has sure helped when I have to plant more flowers.

It could be a thorny issue if that’s his method of planting.

Guess one good whack and the rose can be placed in the hole. Called compacting the soil.

We have concrete-like clay soil here. I do “aerobic gardening:” I dig the holes and my wife plants the flowers. Technically speaking the tool I use is not a pick axe. It does not have a pointy end. It has a flat blade on one side and a claw on the other. It weighs about 16 pounds.

When Gallagher branched out into gardening……..

None of this newfangled stuff for us.

That looks like a mallet. Not sure how you plant things with a mallet.
