We’re from the government and we’re here to help……

Not fair. Real IRS agents are our friends, family and neighbors. They are folks just like us who are just doing their job. A very important, but difficult job.

We need to support the people who work for “the government”. What they do let’s us do what we do. We need to respect folks like IRS agents just like we do law enforcement, teachers, postal workers and so on.

There are also scams where the so-called agent attempts to scare the victim by saying an arrest warrant has been issued, which is not true. The victim may also be told to go to a store such as Walmart or a convenience store to purchase cards and provide the number on the card. Sadly, many people are scared into action and are victimized.

One of my patients was an IRS auditor. During our nine weeks together, he explained several things that will and will not trigger an audit.

My overall takeaway: I didn’t make enough money to trigger an audit.

Send a substantial sum of money to a post office box in Nigeria, and your problems will be over.

No agent of the US government would call on the phone. They just break your door down, and then get lost in the rubble.

I’ll tell you what, you give me YOUR credit card number first, and your social security number—then I’ll give you mine…

The IRS NEVER calls on the telephone. They prefer Registered Mail.

I keep getting calls for a name that sounded so preposterous it had to be made up. When I finally googled the name I found that it was a real name, a retired Air Force Lieutenant General. He started receiving collections calls on my company-issued cell phone today instead of the usual burial insurance and Medicare scams….
