I got 19 items yesterday. (Not even half of what was on my list.) Just short of $100.

When the small basket near the front of the cart I’m using gets full I check out. I stopped putting items in the main cart. My new rule !

Closest store 6 miles, dollar general. Closest grocery store 14 miles. Closest Clean grocery store 26 miles. Do I really need anything? Shopping trips now occurs after DR visits or they are date night.

And now grocery stores are offering 4 easy payments when you check out.

Our self serve lanes are often packed with buyers, but at the end of the quaye are many scanners and talleying machines.

Fer sure.

Express lane, 12 item max, $100 minimum.

Then there are those in line who apparently can neither read, nor count.

Brutus has a very valid point! Who can really afford groceries these days?

When I was a kid, $50 worth of groceries required multiple trips to bring in from the car. Now I can carry $100 worth in one trip without straining

Fact.

If it’s 5 for $1 is that one item or five? Asking for a friend?

Ask the clerk to scan slower. Maybe then the total won’t be so high.

we’ve ALL become “born losers” in the last 2 and a half years – lest we forget, which many seem to have – why.

Sadly true. I’m guessing the item limit police are on a break and most of the folks have more than their allotted amount. Which kinda takes the “express” out of it, no?

Grocery store is like Christmas. Never know what’s under the tree. I got two list. What I need and what I want.

The ancient mathematecians invented the exponential because the knew someday it would be necessary to describe the increase in food prices.

All the stores here eliminated the express lane checkouts and replaced them with self checkouts AND you have to bag your own groceries

Right kid. In addition, “13” would be very unlucky.

Then… The “Non” express lanes should be empty? Com on Brutus! Hop on over to check stand 3!

If the express lane is where everyone is, then hit any other lane! Self check out, any open lane. Oh yeah, Born Loser. Fewer items, must be in that lane.

Hmmm. Let’s see what was lost today.

I see The Veeblefester Tea Cozy Company Store coming soon to a measly paycheck near you.

Another reason is, because of the supply chain problems, that was all they had from their shopping lists.

Lots of people. I work in retail. Some leave with over $100 worth of groceries!

it’s tough to decide. i can line up for regular checkout and get stuck behind a geezer who’s counting out his entire bill in low denomination coins (unlike young folks these days, he can at least count) or i can opt for self checkout and take even longer because i’m totally confused by the process…

Most of the time at my Walmart the express lane is the only one with a cashier. I do not use self checkout since the store is not paying me to be a cashier. One time there were no registers open, so I checked out at the courtesy desk.
