Good morning Cathyites, as I’ve noticed you are called. I’ve enjoyed CATHY for over 30 years, but am new to this. I’ve enjoyed reading your comments since January, and thought I would like to join in. I’ll usually just sit back and enjoy your comments, but wanted to introduce myself.

Hey, I’m new too! If you know lightenup, then you have probably heard of me. I’m glad to be here even though I don’t understand Cathy sometimes. I’m excited to be here, so hi, everyone!

wilii nilli, it will be my pleasure to re post…….as i said, this is from January, 1978.as for your question yesterday about Lauren Bacall and Harry Truman, that photo did appear in Life magazine in , I think, 1948 or so. But I just googled Bacall/Truman and was rewarded with the photo. The process to upload photos to the comments section is not all that hard. if you want to know, let me know through here and I will supply you with the procedure.’

Cathy . . . the Great Procrastinator. Never gets anything accomplished because some new crisis always takes precedence over the current crisis until she’s finally forced to just give up and eat a quart (or maybe even a gallon) of ice cream to make everything in her life feel better . . . then begins the desperation to find true love by tackling that “panic weight” problem (that supposedly “appeared overnight”!!!) all over again — only this time, it’s 10 or 15 lbs. instead of just 5.{eye roll and a sigh}

We are experiencing a disaster waiting to happen ourselves these past three days. My hometown, Kirkland Lake (an hour away from where I live now) has been threatened by a forest fire. Parts of the town are under evacuation warning just in case the wind shifts. My Mother-inlaw lives in this area. My Sister-in-law who normally would take care of Mom is involved with the planning and possible execution of the local hospital so would not have time to evacute her (if needed). My wife drove there yesterday to bring her back to stay with us a few days. On they way back they ended up driving between two new fires (lightening) and found the highway closed behind them. I think they were one of the last cars through before the closure. Fortunately they arrived here safely. The highway was reopened later in the afternoon. Things have calmed down a little today. The main fire still has hot spots but, although the wind did shift, the town is still not in immediate danger but remains on evactuation warning. The two fires they passed by on the drive home are being held to a small size and are not considered dangerous. I am just glad we don’t live in or near Timmins as their fire is far bigger and more threatening. If any of you have some extra rain you could spare, please send it our way. The bush is extremely dry!

A request only dear Cathy can make. Kinda amazes me that she knows what she needs / wants.

Very sorry to hear of your dire circumstances hendelca but glad you managed to get everyone out safely. AND I really hope your home stays on the safe side. I know several areas of the country are experience massive fires right now. (On the lighter side, if there is one — call Aaron!!)

Not necessarily. “An” can be used before any word that begins with a pronounced “h,” although “a” is more common nowadays (you never heard the phrase “an historic occasion”?)
