Too much character-building can be bad for you.

Character building is a fundamental over on Calvin and Hobbes but the best strategy for Chuck’s team to win next year is if he takes a few games off. If memory serves me right, the team wins when Chuck is absent. Linus needs to quote some Casey Stengel circa 1962 for Chuck to put this season into perspective.

You’ve got plenty of that…and the worst collection of ball players in the known universe.

If those losses were painful, there’d be no maybe about them building character.

Or like we say in cricket, you’re winning hearts, CB!

Yes, Charlie, losing may indeed build character, but I don’t know how much character your team can take.

With a record like that, surely they don’t need records

I even bet Hollywood isn’t building character with the WGA writers strike and SAG/AFTRA strike not coming to an end as of yet.

When we lost our house in 1999, my husband & I would tell people, “They say that adversity builds character; if that’s true, then he’s Goofy & I’m Daffy!”

When I was in high school, our football team lost every game for four years except the very last one. We tied the last game of my senior year 6-6. Our fans were so happy, they tore down a goalpost.

I always wondered how the other team felt.

Think positive, Charlie Brown! Your team is consistent, and always lives up to expectations!

I think we all knew that the baseball team lost every game. So, why did Linus have to go over the records to determine that.

Well said. One of my life’s highlights is that I spent 3 hours at the dining table of NY Yankees pitcher Ralph Terry talking baseball. The Yanks were my team growing up in Kansas in the 50’s and 60’s and it was the next best thing to talking to Mickey Mantle. Ralph was 82 and I am now 69. Casey got his name according to Ralph because he was from KC. MO and was in Dentistry school when he came out and played pro-ball. It was KC not Casey. But it stuck in the press. Ralph Terry, MVP of the 62 World Series.

When didn’t they lose every game? Okay, they have had wins – for example, when Charlie Brown was injured and Linus replaced him as pitcher, and there was the time they beat a team with a player who claimed she was the daughter of Roy Hobbs (from “The Natural”); in fact, they have even been to their league’s championship game twice. The first time, Charlie Brown dropped what would have been the game-winning catch; the second time, they were ahead by 1 run in the bottom of the ninth, but he loaded the bases and then committed the only two balks in his career.

Charles… You just need the right spin. You can always say you had a perfect season.
