Uhtceare. The familiar sort of pre-dawn anxiety, when one is lying awake and worrying.

i think not so much memories, but your brain “clicking on” and you can’t click it back off. I hate that when it happens at 2 o’clock or what ever time .

I avoid all that by covering the clock with a washcloth. I’m retired; I don’t NEED to know what time it is.

Or worse…that’s the time a great zinger of a comeback comes to mind, but the conversation is long over!

All I need is to remember the fastest route to the bathroom.

The trick is not to have a clock where you can see it from bed.

My brain was great at remembering until… I used to joke that I was an elephant as I am overweight and could remember everything back to breaking my collar bone when I was 3.

Then I found out that I have a hidden memory from the late 1980s – husband, sister and BIL all remember – but only remember “something medical that doctor had to do” not what it was and it was “minor”. (If so minor – why do they all remember, esp BIL?) Since then my brain in apparently trying to keep whatever it was from me makes me forget everything – if I don’t write down what husband said while we were upstairs in our home office – I will forget what he wanted by the time I walk downstairs. Yesterday I woke up and told him that my back hurt terribly – he told me that it did so day before also – while normally I am left hanging with no memory – at least this jumped back into my head about 5 hours later as I remembered him arguing the night before that I should have let him take the garbage out and I probably hurt my back doing so (still do not think anything related).
