I never cared for ‘back to school’. I always enjoyed being with my kid. When his dorm closed during covid and he moved back from college during the shutdown, I was thrilled to have the whole family home for 6 months.
Anyone remember the old Staples commercial that starts out with “It’s the most wonderful time of the year” music, a parent joyfully pushing the shopping cart, and the kids slowly walking behind, then the tagline – It’s back to school time, get your supplies here? Always made me laugh!
Magic words parents like, only parents need to back up the teacher. Our schools started 15th of August, just last week parents will receive either a phone call or letter about a fight among high school students. At least no weapons involved.
you know i know kids can be little sob’s pretty regularly but that "yay for school so I don’t have to be responsible for the beings I created "attitude just always annoyed me

Yep, an end to the “I’m bored” and offering a dozen or more activity suggestions that are all turned down followed by another “II’m bored” comment.

I love my kids … … to get an education.
I love my kids … … to get back with their friends at school.
I love my kids … … to get out and be out of the house so I can get a break and recover from my kids – so that I can love my kids even more.

As a commuter, I hate those 3 little words. I also enjoy being able to spend more time with my kids.

Ah yes, a few months where Wanda will not feel guilty or feel the need to tell the kids that “Mommy is busying right now, go play in traffic.”

As a former teacher. If you don’t want to be around your own kids. How can you expect the teacher to want to be around your kids.
