In my world, books ARE free—the library is a WONDERFUL place. And, if reading burned calories. I’d be a stick figure. Unfortunately, not only does reading NOT burn calories, but there’s ALWAYS some mention of some kind of food on some page. . .but I do burn calories walking to the fridge/cupboard and back to my chaise lounge. . .so that’s something. . .isn’t it????
If reading could cause weight loss, I would be virtually invisible. LOVE to read a good, hard cover book. Something about the sound and feel of the pages….
I read while I eat lunch, I used to wolf my food down in a short time now it takes me my whole lunch hour and there are times I don’t even finish because I feel full from eating slowly. It’s not the only reason I lost weight but it is a contributing factor.
Many of the books I own were purchased at yard sales, library sales, thrift stores, and book stores that were going out of business (or, in one happier case, simply relocating). Such shopping trips are a combination of the joy of treasure hunting and my love of a good bargain.

actually make that the other way around: if people read they get fatter – and you’ll see how they’ll read like crazy

I have one word for reading. “Audible”. Now every long drive or long wait is an adventure in literature as someone reads to me.

Aunty Books are free, it’s called a library, however you are still a fat@$$.
Nubmaeme over 1 year ago
That works only if you are the type to not eat while reading, and then don’t binge eat afterwards.

If I had to choose between being skinny and getting books for free, I’d choose free books in a heart beat.
andersjg Premium Member over 1 year ago
That only works if you carry a bunch of books in and out of the library..

While you can get books for free, good luck with the skinny part.
