Ohio TrumpubliQan cult worshipping coyotes hatched their ACME plan to catch the roadrunners and got caught in their own trap.
Earlier this year, to prevent low-turnout single issue elections in August, when people are on vacation, the heavily gerrymandered Republican-dominated legislature passed legislation to outlaw such elections.
Then, PRO-CHOICE activists qualified a ballot initiative to go on the ballot in November to enshrine reproductive rights for women into the Ohio state constitution. Polls showed it passing by about 58%.
Panicked, the Ohio Republicans who scream about “FREEDOM!” and warn that “Democrats are coming for your freedoms!” decided to stop any such talk of freedom for women to control their own bodies. Hypocritical Republican insecure little boys talk about “FREEDOM” but they only mean freedom for ginormous corporations and megabillionaire elites to run roughshod over the rights of workers and consumers, not freedom for individuals.
In a panic, they passed a new law allowing a one-time exception to their prohibition on single-issue special elections and set a special election for last Tuesday to raise the threshold for that kind of ballot initiative from 50% (as it had been for over a hundred years) to 60%, just over the amount the initiative was winning by in the polls.
They sprang their trap, and then stepped in it. It backfired like the coyote’s ACME traps. Voter turnout was higher than last year’s midterm primaries and they failed by a margin of 43% yes to 57% no.
People do want freedom. They are learning that Republicans are the ones coming for your freedoms.
Now if only we could have majority votes for President of the USA and get rid of the electoral college, that keeps saddling us with horrible Republican Presidents that can’t win the majority of the votes.
When I found out about the results from Ohio this week, I thought of how much business Erie and Pittsburgh will lose, and especially how much business Cincinnati will gain. Notice Cincinnati is near both Indiana and Kentucky. Of course, there’re always back allies in those states….
Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan and now Ohio. Republicans, you have been warned. You are going to lose so bad in 2024. Losing our rights to our own bodies and suppressing the power of our vote has us seething. We’re just waiting for the polls to open in 2024.
I live in OHIO and what a glorious day! The election was called almost immediately….THANK YOU !!
Another TRICK, THE GOP changed several VOTING locations at the last minute….they sent out bogus fliers with foul info and the wrong date for voting etc. they’ll do anything to win because they can never win rightfully!
The gop are destroying anything and everything good. Including education! They’ve dismantled the Board of Education and is now run by govt. with no powere to the board.
What kind of vengeful hate do they harbor? Evil, Nazi ways!

The QOP thought they were so smart to sneak this in. You can actually hear them saying, “Wile E. Coyote, super genius.”
This is how it must sound after the results were clear. http://www.nonstick.com/audio/soundsource/Wile_E_Coyote/ltwc_011.mp3

Wile E. Coyote failed every single time. I want to see that happen to the GQP Fashist NotSee Party.

Frank LaRose was the driving force behind the Ohio Republicans effort to curtail Women’s right. Can’t spell LaRose without “loser” and vice versa.
