One of the boys in my daughterâs sixth or seventh grade class, when I was a substitute teacher at his class, told my daughter, âYour momâs hot!â That was probably forty years ago, so no, I donât think that description is going to go away, even if Caulfield only noticed it âthe last few summersâ.
A friend reported that it was 115 Fahrenheit in Chicago yesterday. We had 108° F here in BC the year before last. It was hotter than Mexico and many people, seniors, died because they didnât have proper ventilation. Scared the tar outta my daughter, for me.

Itâs probably never been a compliment as seen from the recipientâs POV.

I grew up in a town on Lake Michigan. According to Weather Bug, their high yesterday was 64 degrees

If sheâs âa cute chick,â sheâs already heard it!

Kinda like a verbal emoji for an actual compliment. Shows how the language had deteriorated by the sixties.
On the other hand, seems every July or even August has broken the previous highest ever record temperature.
Wonder how long before it is too late to do anything about it?

Itâs been pretty nice here in Michigan. Consistently in the 80s, just a good summer heat, and âgood sleeping weatherâ at night.

âShall I compare thee to a summerâs dayâ was just a flowery way of saying âYouâre hot!â

She: âYou look so nice and cool in that white uniform.â
He: âThanks! You donât look so hot yourself.â

Itâs unlikely to ever stop being a compliment, because it refers to oneâs rise in body temperature upon arousal rather than to weather.

Weather has been very good this summer in New England with the exception of a couple of week in July!

At age 78, I keep my opinions about the young ladies I consider to be hot to myself. Just for safetyâs sake.

Right now it is still a compliment that I enjoy.
