    I think my bank ran out of money. I tried to do a withdrawal at one of their ATMs. I couldn’t get any money… the screen just said “Withdrawal Denied — Insufficient Funds”.

    My cousin was the March of Dimes Poster Child in 1969. He was 5 at the time. I’m a few years older than him, and I remember all of the press our family got. He wasn’t expected to live as long as he has. He is still going strong!

    The name “The March of Dimes” is a play on “The March of Time,” a weekly newsreel shown in movie theaters from the mid-thirties to the early 50s.

    I remember those dime booklets in churches and stores. They had pictures of kids on crutches. Once filled, they were sent away.

    Some of that polio research funding went to Salk and Sabin and they have effectively eliminated polio amongst those who get vaccinated.
