THIS IS ACTUALLY FUNNY!! No sarcasm, I laughed at this and want to see where it goes. Mr Batuik, you can either make this strip the oh-so-serious Funky Winkerbean (the gone one) or make this CRANKSHAFT! Celebrate the goofiness of your Mad Titan! I want less Lisa’s Story and more Road Runner v Coyote! This time, the Road Runner won!

Skip Rawlins’ headline of the day. As a one-armed photographer, he did a good job in catching Ed at his best.

This brings back memories of days long ago, when ALL the local news was printed in the daily newspaper.

……ohhhhh the drama of small town!!!!!

So what happened once Grandma “caught” the bus? What does “catching” the bus look like? Did she have to actually grab hold of the bus and bring it to a stop “ala” Superman? Where do the students fit into all this? As it has been pointed out, not once in this tedious arc was there a depiction of Grandma chasing the bus. The more I think about it the less sense it makes. I’ve been reading this mess for quite a few years and know that the bus chasing “gag” has been a part of this strip for many a long time. Can any of you Crankshaft historians shed some light. I know I’m way over thinking this.

This must be a sign of Ed’s impending dementia. And Batty’s. He doesn’t remember a press conference right outside the door? I mean, she had the news waiting with her? Or once she “caught” the bus, it was hers to hold onto until she let him go?
