I have the same problem when, sitting down I read, because I have to keep my head up.

Keep your eye on the important stuff

Watching television is all I use glasses for.

I wonder if he can make them work sideways.

I’ve done that, too, but it was uncomfortable. Now I position a pillow to lean my head forward enough to use the middle of my trifocals.

I tried it too but ear piece was all wrong.

But … wouldn’t that only work if the prescription for both eyes is the same?

I’m still getting use to my trifocals, but my go-to are my reading glasses

This is a great idea, especially for improving your aim.

Uncle Ted (or maybe someone who knows what he’s thinking) needs to patent a frame that is flip able.

What a great trick – that never occurred to me! I’m guessing today’s strip was born out of the artist’s actual experience. Very clever!

He should sit in the chair upside down. It was fun to do when I was a kid.

On the rare times I recline to watch TV, with my bifocals, i perch them on the end of my nose.

If you sat up straight, you wouldn’t need to do that.

they may be upside down, but his ideas are right side up. :J

It is still a good idea!

I gave up and just bought a pair of single vision glasses for watching t.v..Yes I have to keep my reading glasses close by, but rarely am I reading and watching t.v.

Uncle Ted is truly worldly. I had a friend back in the day that loved to “walk” on his hands rather than his feet. He would jut flip upright and walk on hands normally like his feet. I thought him odd. I went into Air Force in 1964 and 1995 before I came back to my home town to stay. Folks said he had moved away. Never seen him since ’64.

I don’t know anyone with progressives that have had good vision with them. I use bifocals sometimes, but they’re only good for reading and watching TV. I have separate glasses for driving.

Bringing things into focus is a foreign concept for Brutus.

Only problem is if Uncle Ted pops up to fast from the recliner, his glasses could go flying into the TV.

Are you sure Uncle Ted wasn’t just napping and put his glasses on in a hurry so Brutus wouldn’t know, and he came up with a quick excuse for having them on wrong?

Progressive lenses are bi or trifocals without the sharp separation between optics…

“You see”, Uncle Ted continues, “the distance vision is on top and the reading vision on the bottom, so when I turn them upside down, that is because with my eyes, both of them have the same prescription”…

FYI:

I tried Uncle Ted’s tip with my bifocals. I didn’t meet with Uncle Ted’s level of success, unfortunately.

I tried progressive lenses once. They gave me a headache as I couldn’t get used to just lowering/raising my eyes instead of tilting my entire head.

I just lower them to the end of my nose.
