This brings to mind a humorous incident that occurred during a lecture I attended. The room was filled with students who were listening intently as the professor, who was holding a marker, spoke. Unexpectedly, he began to search around him with a growing sense of irritation, and then erupted into a fit of rage, claiming he had misplaced his pen. Amidst his outburst, a student timidly raised their hand, causing the professor to snap, “What is it?” The student, with quiet reserve, pointed out, “Um, it’s in your hand, sir.” Realizing his mistake, the professor fell silent and, after a brief pause, sheepishly resumed the lecture, asking, “So, where were we?”
I have four cell phones which ring when I have to remember to do something.
I hate my current cell phone. I had to get a new one when 3G was dropped even though the phone I had was 4G and 4G still exists. Husband did his best to find a phone for me as a replacement which I had a chance of liking, was on my plan, and we could afford. It is about 50% larger than my old one and while being a fat person I have small hands (wear larger sized children’s gloves) so if the phone is not seated in exactly the correct place in my hand it will start to fall off the back of my hand and I have to grab for it. Husband in finding the phone for me did not realize that the phone I had before had special mfrs software over the Android software so its screen and apps looked different than all the other Androids – so I hate it.
He pointed out to me that I could use the other (than making phone calls/texting which I do rarely any way) features of the phone around the house as a PDA if I turned on the Internet in the phone. In addition I like the calendar and to do list in my old Palm Centro (first “smart phone”) and tend to carry it with me around the house due to to same. And my old Blackberry has a good monthly calendar.
So around the house all 4 phones travel with me from room to room. They all have current appointments, holidays etc in them. When it is time for me to stop working for the day and go make dinner all 4 of them ring and remind me (as does the calendar in my computer which I am using for work). Time to call my mom for our weekly talk – all ring. Etc.
I only take current phone when going out of the house, but around the house all 4 travel about with me and they have a fixed spot in each room (bedroom, office, kitchen, living room) to sit while I am there.

Ah, the wonders, or should I say, blunders of modern technology.

Even at my worst, I think I’d figure this one out. Now I have my iWatch and it tells me my phone is in my pocket. Sheesh.
