A number of years ago a group chartered a bus to travel to an event. I sat up towards the front and was entertained by the driver’s gps constantly announcing “recalculating”. I’m still amazed we got there. At one point we went through the tent camping area of a state park. Let’s just say the roads there are not designed for a large motor coach.
Very fuzzy scrambled data then (’80s) and until 2K when peanut Jimmy and Billy cleared things up. Even now, track results on bike and hike trails are hilarious. Could be the maps. I wonder how aircraft carrier GPS landings are coming along … GPS IFR landings in the middle of the ocean would take way more hutzpah the I have.
I was making dinner and I had the 80s music channel cranked while I was chopping up a bunch of onions. They were playing some good stuff but then a Bonnie Tyler song came on Just then, my wife came walking into the kitchen. I suddenly realized what it looked like. She saw tears in my eyes as I was listening to “Total Eclipse of the Heart”. She turned around, giggling, with me exclaiming in a shrill Seinfeld voice “NO! IT WAS THE ONIONS! … THE ONIIIIIONS!!”

1983, “Total Eclipse of the Heart”, Bonnie Tyler. Maybe she’s listening to the ’80s station instead of her GPS.

Must have selected the POI for a total eclipse (of the heart).

My 80’s GM models fell apart more frequently than every now and then.

Might have something to do with the ‘total eclipse’

My GPS said to “turn around” but then I couldn’t see the road at all. Everything looked familiar that I had just passed however.

GPS wasn’t available to the public yet-it was military and didn’t start making it to aircraft navigation until the 90’s.

Does it call you Bright Eyes all the time? Maybe you should make it a Meatloaf.
