If anyone here remembers Erma Bombeck—she was an extremely popular humorist—she has a great story about how she met her husband, Bill. For their first date, they doubled with another couple to a carnival. The two guys and Erma wanted to go on a carnival ride but the other girl didn’t want to because it would mess her hair. Right then, Bill decided Erma was the girl for him. They were married 47 years until her death.
