Coming Soon 👀 At the beginning of April, you’ll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Always leave the most important guest ‘til last. Make sure there is something nice for them to drink in the green room while they wait. A new celeb will think it’s rude to make them wait, but an old celeb will recognize it as a sign of his/her importance.
Rule of thumb: the better (funnier, cleverer etc.) the ad, the worse the product.I usually hear an announcement like “And now, the news” which never is now because first there’s a sponsor (i.e. concealed ad), then the ads announced as ads. Or first ad ads, then the sponsor adds ads.
Oh Lord… sponsors. I know, the network channel is paid, and that is a good thing, but please, don’t make it 3 minutes or more, it bores the hell out of most of us.
The incessant shower installer commercials are making my brain shrivel! But they must work because they are making enough money to keep putting on more commercials. For the love of all that is sacred – make it stop!!!
One of my fav’ peanuts was Linus watching TV which said “We’ll be right back after a few short words from our sponsor” Linus in the last panel is sitting bolt upright pointing at the TV and declares “YOU LIE!”
Black Friday sale! $2 a month streaming for each of these services!
The catch: lots of adds. The add-free service has no discount. When you start the adds are bearable, but then they increase their frequency to the point that there is at least 1 minute of adds in every 5 minutes of show. You either abandon the show or switch to the expensive add-free version.
It really is that bad now. What little morals networks had, they have sold to the highest bidder and then some. You get 3 minutes of show before another commercial now.
Yes that’s the way ABC evening news is the last half. 4 min commercial and 30 secs of news several times. With all that’s going on you’d think they could come with 20-22 mins of news.

Which is worse, the five minute ads for a drug that may kill you or the thirty second ads that can give you a headache?
greggie1 over 1 year ago
Sounds like ESPN — 18 minutes of programming and 42 minutes of commercials per hour

That’s definitely today’s TV ads in a nutshell.

Just like real life. I’ve counted commercials five minutes long, so long that I had forgot what I was watching.
trainnut1956 over 1 year ago
Yep, that’s Cable TV for you. We now interrupt our fifteen minute commercial block with five minutes of program.

Seems to be the state of television today, more commercials than program.

(wonders about the “BLAH-DEE BLAH-DEE BLAH-DEE BLAH-DEE DAH” of this cartoon; senses a cartoon with a story worthy of being continued)

Last weekend, they somehow slipped a football game in between the commercials. I really don’t know how that happened.

This is why you ALWAYS record shows – even if you’re home at the time – and play them back later when you can skip through all that crap.

When “pay TV” first started in the 70’s, it was advertised as commercial free…that didn’t last long.
